There’s been a town, village or city here since colonial times. The things that brought the early colonists were the same things that attracted the immigrants & entrepreneurs of the 19th and 20th centuries and what makes this a great place to live and do business into the 21st century:
- the abundance of natural resources
- good transportation routes to larger markets.
The slideshow, Gloversville Then & Now below, was created to give you a feel of Gloversville. The "Then" pictures include historical shots of glove manufacturers and our downtown streets in the early part of the 20th century. The "Now" is our city today - some shots of the streets and buildings in the BID area, and pictures of some of the things our citizens are invovled in - our Library, Nathan Littauer Hospital, our new food co-op, the Farmer's Market & Myer's Park. |
